Gorgeous expression of Nebbiolo. Wonderfully perfumed nose and sweet, dried cherries with a hint of spice on the palate. There's still plenty of grip from the tannins so it drinks better with food. And it doesn't hurt being an absolute bargain compared to Barolo!

Enticing floral, wild berry, new leather and truffle aromas seemingly float out of the glass, growing darker with spice as the wine takes on air. The palate is elegant and still youthfully austere, offering Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, clove and white pepper flavors, framed by firm, chewy tannins and vibrant acidity. A licorice note closes the lingering finish. Drink 2018 2035.

The Valpolicella Classico exhibits a bright ruby color and very distinct aromas of Maraschino cherries, dried cranberries and sweet almond marzipan. The intensity and clarity of the wine’s appearance is of special note. Easy fruit and drying mineral aromas wrap around the palate. Despite the wine’s simplicity, this is one of the nicest base Valpolicellas I have tried. It exudes energy and good cheer.

The 2011 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva shows an etched and sharp quality with bright herbal aromas of sage and rosemary twig followed by tangy citrus and sweet peach. This is a complete and very attractive interpretation of the Vernaccia grape. That mild but compelling complexity continues to the mouth where the wine is soft, layered and refreshing.

A great Greco, the absolute best out of this vintage; the cleanliness of smell is blameless, rare is the expressive smoothness. <span style="textdecoration: underline;">Not</span> a sulphurous (=zwavel) cloud, not a hint of burnished sun, only the fruit, pure vitality and prime. It's in this wine a great extractive richness, in every reach or reverb of absolute aroma's allure, persistence and density marvelously impressive. Chapeau!

In 2013, the Manzola is pure finesse.
