- The 2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Le vaglie is quite coy in the glass, as nuances of young peach and pear are complemented by hints of chamomile. It washes across the palate with saline intensity and tart orchard fruits, creating a tense yet also juicy sensation. The 2021 finishes lightly structered with a staining of primary concentration and hints of savory spice. A little more time in bottle should allow the Le Vaglie to come further into focus. Le Vaglie is all about harmony and balanced pleasure!

- Usseglio's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers a wonderfully tonic counterpoint to the opulence of the domaine's reds. Mainly Clairette and mainly fermented and aged in stainless steel, it offers hints of ripe pear and white peach, but the main elements in this medium-bodied wine are stones and citrus zest, without being sharp-edged or overly crisp

- Just bottled the week prior to this tasting, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is a true winner in the vintage and should be snatched up by savvy readers. White peach, flowers, and green almond notes dominate the bouquet, and it’s medium-bodied, with a pure, seamless mouthfeel, a rare mix of richness and freshness, and a great finish. While the reds from this terrific estate get all the press, they make a killer white.

- The classic 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape checks in at around 75% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and a splash of Cinsault. This rock star traditional cuvée gives up loads of black licorice, garrigue, black raspberries, and kirsch liqueur. It's powerful and full-bodied, yet elegant and seamless, with fine tannin, no hard edges, and a great finish. Despite the richness and weight, it stays weightless and elegant, with silky tannin. Don't miss it.

- Deep crimson. Expansive aromas of raspberry liqueur, garrigue and licorice, plus a smoky mineral topnote that adds urgency. Takes on darker fruit character with aeration, showing impressive concentration as well as vibrant, spicy lift to the bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors. The floral note comes back strong on the impressively long finish, which is given shape by smooth, well-knit tannins.

- The 2013 vintage was a classic one, with a cold spring and a balanced summer. The weather in the fall was very good (warm during the day and cool in the night) so finally we had a very late ripening vintage. The one we love the most with the Nebbiolo! Thanks to that we have wines with a great elegance, a full Nebbiolo bouquet, good structure and fresh acidity. To be a “classic” vintage the tannins are very smooth from the beginning and the wines balanced.

- Briljant strogeel met gouden reflecties. Elegant in de neus, biedt tonen van specerijen en aromatische kruiden, gevolgd door tropisch fruit en hints van citrus, en vervolgens minerale trekjes die elkaar kruisen met sensaties van groene amandelen en oranjebloesem. Weelderige smaak, goed ondersteund door mooie frisheid en smaak-reuksensatie van hoog niveau. Vinificatie in staal, rijping in barrique gedurende 12 maanden.

- Helder strogeel. Geurige, expressieve neus, aanvankelijk van knapperige Golden Delicious, daarna gekonfijte citroenschil, wat munt en nootmuskaat in de afdronk, plus witte bloemen. In de mond met een fruitige kern en mooie sappigheid, strekt zich delicaat romig uit over het gehemelte, plus een grote ziltigheid, heeft een lange afdronk.

Chiquet's Blanc de Blancs marries the natural breadth of Aÿ with deeply expressive varietal notes and striking freshness. The interplay of those elements makes for a highly engaging and delicious Champagne.
