- The fruit feels so comfortable here, in the ripe-red zone; it ranges from cherry kernel to chocolate-coated red plums to glazed cherries. Integrated hints of bark and sandalwood. Full-bodied with strapping tannins and muscular, imposing structure and power. Notwithstanding, everything is in striking balance and delivered with remarkable precision and grit. Drink from 2026.

- The Damilano 2016 Barolo Cannubi shows depth and a profound nature. This is the DNA of the Cannubi cru, maybe the most celebrated in the appellation with mildly compact, well-draining sandy soils. These conditions contribute to the dark concentration and the firm textural support found here. These assets are particularly apparent in this classic vintage. Dark fruit and dried cherry cede to earthy truffle and licorice. Of these various single-vineyard expressions, the tight tannins on this Cannubi definitely suggest a long drinking window. This wine is my favorite in this flight from Damilano, and this vintage is distinguished by its sheer excellence.

- Aromas of red-skinned berry, cooking spice and green peppercorn lead the way. The silky palate offers fleshy black cherry, almond and licorice alongside fresh acidity and pliant tannins.

- A bright-fruited Barbera d’Asti with lots of primary fruit coming to the surface, in addition to fresh herbs. Light to medium body, pretty acidity and a soft, fruity finish.

- A black pepper accent adds punctuation to the blackberry and blueberry flavors in this red, which has density and persistence, with earth elements on the finish. Drink now through 2024.

- Jaargang 2019 is bleekgeel van kleur met zilvergroene reflecties, een prachtige glans en een heldere, mooie uitstraling. De geur is mooi en onderscheidend, openhartig, levendig met de kenmerken van Sauvignon. Beginnend met verkwikkende tonen van citrus (citroen en grapefruit), exotische tonen (kumquat) en bloemengeuren (zwarte bes, buxus en klimop). Geef hem wat lucht en er komen minerale accenten (vuursteen en rook) bij. De aanzet is strak, fris en zeer speels, wat de pittige en bloemige geuren van de neus goed balanceert. Het is een droge en levendige wijn, die de smaakpapillen doet ontwaken. Deze cuvée is licht en dorstlessend en geeft een prominente plaats aan minerale en rassenaccenten. Citroenachtige afdronk en op de vuursteen. 2019 is één van mijn mooiste jaargangen!

- The finest examples come from small, independent growers like Reverdy, where father Daniel and son Cyrille work together on their tiny 9-hectare estate. This top cuvée uses grapes grown on 40 year old vines just behind the cellar. Asparagus, citrus and mineral character make this aromatic 2017 a great match for your finest seafood.

- On the nose citrus fruits and mineralogy, in the mouth citrus fruits (pronounced pear) with a vanilla pod ending in a dry finish. Highly recommend.

- Consistent high quality here and the 2017 shows a vibrant bouquet of dried violets, dried blackberries and citrus. Medium-bodied with so much mineral drive. The acidity gives superb tension to the agile blue fruit, but there’s underlying structure to the tannins. Drink now.

- Wish there was a 4.25 star - debated long to give it a 4.5 a wonderful Ripasso. Provides some dark fruit flavors on the palate that typically do not come out of a Ripasso. Some notes of plum and prune paired with red cherry and black cherry. Very smooth and easy drinking.

- Rheinhessen de twee J's maken wijn: Julia en Johannes Landgraf. Hun hitparade: Gault Millau, Eichelmann en Vinum Weinguide die de loftrompet laten schallen. 'Topniveau, sehr gut en 'eine gute Entwicklung' horen we van over de landsgrenzen.
