Cherry, wild strawberry, optimal acidity and medium aftertaste. Succulent wine with hints of sweetness (harvest a little late but minimum extraction), polished, unfiltered, silky and fine grained tannins.

- The fresh, delicate white, with notes of citron and lemon leaf and a slight hint of bay, is bound to improve. Especcialy good value wine!

- Bright straw yellow. Aromas of lime, licorice and herbs, plus a noteworthy smoky element. Bigger and more powerful than past vintages, offering nicely concentrated sweet/sour flavors of gooseberry, lime and smoked beef. This deep wine finishes very savory and with peppery bite.

- ‘The 2017 Cotes du Rhone les Champauvins was yet to be bottled at the time of my June visit. This value stalwart looks reassuringly excellent, with garrigue accents layered over raspberry fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, with a bit of silky tannin and a long, mouthwatering finish. It should drink well for at least 6-7 years

- This Côtes du Rhône, from a plot of vines located just outside Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is a terrific achievement in a challenging vintage. Hints of garrigue, black olive and cocoa add nuance to the ample black cherry fruit, while the finish of this full-bodied wine shows enough grip and astringency to warrant short-term cellaring. Drink 2019–2025

- The 2015 Cotes du Rhone les Champauvins is a solid step up, with fabulously complex notes of Bing cherry, blueberries, raspberries, spring flowers and pepper all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, rich and beautifully textured, it tastes more like a Chateauneuf du Pape than a Cotes du Rhone. Drink it anytime over the coming 4-5 years.

- Medium bright red. Ripe red cherry, botanical herbs, and sweet pipe tobacco on the captivating nose. Delicate but precise flavors of red cherry, plum nectar and sweet spices, plus truly lovely sugar-acid-tannin balance in the mouth. Finishes smooth and long. This wine has 16% alcohol but you can hardly tell, as it’s so well balanced; it’s ready to drink now, but will easily last another decade in a good cellar.

- This little Cengia winery is expertly run by the Begali family. This wine’s generous ripe fruit, firm, close-knit, tannic weave and vibrant acidity brighten up the huge mouth-feel and make it especially dynamic. It has a clean impressively long finish.

- The 2013 Barbaresco Manzola is soft, succulent and inviting for a young Barbaresco. Midweight, gracious and supple, the 2013 speaks to balance above all else. Hightoned aromatics meld into a core of sweet red cherry, chalk, mint, pine, tobacco and white pepper. This is the most feminine and gracious Barbaresco in Nada's range. In 2013, the Manzola is pure finesse.

- A clean, focused red, this delivers cherry, currant, floral and licorice flavors on an elegant frame. Tobacco and leather accents join in on the finish, which is long and detailed. Best from 2018 through 2030. 600 cases made.

- The 2013 vintage was a classic one, with a cold spring and a balanced summer. The weather in the fall was very good (warm during the day and cool in the night) so finally we had a very late ripening vintage. The one we love the most with the Nebbiolo! Thanks to that we have wines with a great elegance, a full Nebbiolo bouquet, good structure and fresh acidity. To be a “classic” vintage the tannins are very smooth from the beginning and the wines already quite balanced.

- The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is up with the crème de la crème of the vintage and in the same league as the perfect 2010. Awesome notes of blackberries, crème de cassis, charred meats, licorice, and violets all soar from the glass. It's powerful, opulent, and structured, with building tannin, a huge mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish, yet it never loses its sense of purity and elegance. It's an incredible achievement from this estate.

- A terrific effort, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. It's dense and rich almost beyond belief, packed with super ripe fruit that comes dangerously close to being chocolaty and fudge-like, yet it retains a sense of balance. Earth, spice and dark fruit notes linger for minutes on the long, tannic finish. Give it at least a couple of years in the cellar, and drink it over the next decade and a half. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. Release price $120

- Vivid straw. Lemon zest and a suggestion of white peach and ripe apricot on the nose. Rich and dense but very nicely delineated; vibrant, harmonious acidity provides lift and extends the flavors on the long, lemony, mineral back end. This wine has plenty of early personality and appeal. One of the best Terra d’Uva ever.

- This wine significantly impressed me at $20! Fabulous mouthfeel with fresh acidity on a somewhat oily texture. Fun profile with white peach, floral, mint (strong herbal presence), and gentle citrus that just lasts forever. A very well made wine. Buy this wine!!!

- Green feeling on the nose that has nothing to do with unripe fruit. The aromas recall granny smith apples, anise, and lime peel. In the mouth, this noble green characteristic is completed by softer sensations of white- eshed fruit and by a suggestion, particularly on the nish, of shelled almonds.
