Deze buitengewoon verleidelijke, elegante, complexe Syrah is in 1 woord uitzonderlijk.
Voor de grote liefhebber van Noordelijke Rhône wijnen hebben wij ook een aantal dozen Cornas 'Les Eygats' 2019 van Courbis gereserveerd. De reputatie van de wijnmaker in combinatie met opnieuw een prachtige oogstjaar 2019 (volgens Parker 96 van de 100 punten) in de Rhône maakt dit meer dan de moeite waard. De smaak
Kracht, balans en finesse allemaal in één wijn! Deze Syrah verleidt je door zijn kracht, zijn balans en nauwkeurigheid van zijn fruit. Verleidelijk rijp fruit van rode bessen, bramen en pruimen samen met zijn 'spicy touch' en zachte vanille maken hem onweerstaanbaar. Elegant en complex met een mineraliteit die doet denken aan een grote Cornas. Rijpe tannines maken hem vandaag al een genoegen en over tijd nog meer!

Spijs-aanbeveling
Drinken bij entrecôte grillée, geroosterd kalfsvlees met pruimen, Cassolet van lam. Of bij kaas, denk dan vooral aan Réblochon of Tomme de chèvre.

De oorsprong
Domaine Courbis is gevestigd in de stad Châteaubourg. Op de rechterbank van de Rhône, op het punt waar de Isère in de Rhône mondt. Op de schrale stijle bergwanden liggen de beroemde wijngaarden van de gebroeders Courbis. De wortels van de Syrah rijken diep in de voedselarme bodem van kalkachtige klei en graniet. Extreme hitte met grote verschillen tussen dag en nacht temperatuur, de droogte met de verkoelende wind door het Rhônedal, vormen de elementen waarin de Syrah optimaal gedijt.
De broers Laurent en Dominique staan aan de top in de Noordelijke Rhône en hebben een breed internationaal aanzien. Door de jaren heen schreef Robert Parker de volgende recencies over het familiebedrijf:

Slimme Weetjes: Noordelijke Rhône is Syrah
Syrah is a dark-skinned red wine grape. Its origins have been popularly debated, but its modern viticultural home is unquestionably the northern Rhône Valley of eastern France.Syrah has proved successful around the world; wines are produced in many styles and display myriad dark-fruit flavors. Varietal Syrah can be quite floral in its youth, developing white and black pepper aromas and herbaceous notes as it ages. Some examples show tanned leather and smoky scents, while the fruit in these wines tends towards the very dark flavors of blackcurrant and licorice.

Slimme Weetjes: World's most famous Syrah wines
Some of the world's most famous Syrah wines are the peppery, earthy reds of the northern Rhône, specifically of the Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations. The terroirs of Saint-Joseph vary considerably in the 30 miles (50km) the appellation covers along the Rhone valley. The best sites are set on primary rock formations, consisting of gneiss, granite and mica-rich schist, while others are set on limestone outcrops, or the alluvial soils of ancient glacial terraces. These soils each bring their own characteristics to the wines produced from them.
